Garage lighting, wiring done! Time to rock and roll …

Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023

I’m happy to report that the garage lighting and wiring is completed! I’ve had the wiring done for nearly two weeks, the lighting took some time but it too is done, and it’s bright as daylight in the garage. I could not be happier with the results!

My next improvement(s) are likely to be adding garage door openers to one or two of the three roll-up overhead doors. They sell relatively inexpensive jackshaft units made in China that folks are having success with.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE PLYMOUTH? The Whiskey City Cruisers have two cruises this month, the first on Sunday, the second on the last Saturday of the month. I haven’t had the Plymouth out of the garage all summer, so its time to make it to a cruise; I think people may wonder if I died or just flat disappeared.

I have posted previous to-do lists regarding the Plymouth; rest assured I have nothing crossed off that list. The top repair item right now is the brake lights.

BRAKE HISTORY. Early this Spring, I found the master cylinder was empty of fluid; apparently, there is a small leak in the existing brake light switch, which uses the hydraulic pressure of the master cylinder to activate the switch.

After filling up the MC and regaining brakes, the brake lights went dead. For unknown reasons, there’s no longer 12 volts on the wire that’s supposed to come from the headlight switch and power the tail lights when the brake is depressed.

My repair for this problem is going to be simple. I’m going to run a new DC line from the starter relay on the driver’s side inner fender, and run that to the brake light switch. Before I replace the original one, I’m going to try see if bleeding the line will help. If not, I’ll install the replacement.

MONDAY TO-DO LIST. The first item on my son and mine to-do list is to repair a storm window on the front porch of our home. One of the panes has a broken “ear” which means the window does not stay in its track. It shouldn’t take us long to make the repair.

Other tasks include moving the Argon/CO2 cylinder from the floor to the Mig welder; cut up cardboard and generally police the garage.

I plan to have the Plymouth ready for the Whiskey City Cruiser cruises this month. We’ll see!!
