Summer’s here, time to prepare to cruise!

Wednesday, May 10, 2023 — I finally fired up the Belvedere today, waking her from her winter slumbers. It took a little cranking to get fuel pumped from the tank to the carb, but when she had fuel, she fired right up. It took a few minutes for her idle to smooth out, but she settled down to her usual, quiet idle.

I probably should have pulled her out for a wash, but I’ll do that later. The next thing I plan to address is the fuel filler tube. I need to examine the rubber tube to see if its just leaking, cracked or completely falling apart. I bought some special repair tape that is fuel resident, and if it is possible to seal the leaking off, I’ll do that first. The tape is advertised to kind of “melt” together. If that works, it should get us through the summer.

Right now, I’m a little overwhelmed by the number of jobs I need to get done on the Plymouth. I need to make a master list of tasks, and go after them one-by-one. Maybe that’s what I’ll do in the next few days. Sounds like a plan.
