Headlight alignment, part 2

Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021

It was a beautiful day today, and I went back to the garage to give the headlights another alignment try. I managed to get the headlights aligned a little better, but but I’m still not really satisfied with them. The passenger side headlight still needs to be aimed more toward the side of the roadway; the driver’s side headlight could be raised a little more. But both adjustments go so far and just quit. I’m not sure if the issues are the headlight buckets or the adjustment screws are stripped. I need to remove the buckets and then check the adjustment screws the full length of their travel.

My Plymouth on display at the Depot Street car show in Bloomfield on Friday, Oct. 8th.

I may need to cement some nuts onto the adjustment holes if the threads aren’t biting on the existing holes, I’ll know more once I get the the buckets out.

I’ve decided that I’m going to repaint the “other” 1956 oil bath air cleaner; its yellow (perhaps its a 55 model?), and I’ll make sure it fits my carb neck. The existing one is in decent shape, but need paint. Its in good enough shape to leave it original.

WORKBENCH COMING. I’m getting a workbench delivered tomorrow! My brother-in-law and his wife are bringing an old one he has over for my garage, and we’re cooking out for them. I need to check the wiring on the dimmer switch, but need to move the hydraulic jack to the garage so I can get under the car to check the wiring.

UPCOMING EVENTS. Next Saturday is the Ky Railway Museum car show, and I’m thinking of going down for that. The following Saturday is the Whiskey City Cruisers, and I’ll certainly be there for that.
